Let’s dive into what these templates are, how they work, and what each setting within the template can do for your store.

What is a template?

Think of a Template as a preset configuration in our app that automates the creation and distribution of NFTs linked to the products in your store. Each template serves as a recipe that details how NFTs are minted, what data they include, and how they’re presented to customers when they make a purchase.

How does a template work?

Templates simplify linking digital or physical goods to unique blockchain tokens. With a template, you can:

  • Select a blockchain: Choose which blockchain network to mint your NFTs on. Each has its perks, like cost savings or speed.
  • Customize collections: Decide if your NFTs will be part of a general collection or a special one just for your brand.
  • Define product details: Choose which details about the product (like size or color) get embedded in the NFT as metadata.
  • Craft customer messages: Personalize the messages that customers will see when they claim their NFT, making the experience special.

When to use templates?

Templates are essential since each product associated with an NFT must be linked to a template. When you decide to make a product eligible for an NFT gift, you add the product to a specific template. This setup ensures that the minting process is automated and seamlessly integrated with the sale of the product, eliminating any need for additional actions from you or the customer.

Using templates is essential for:

  • Targeting specific products: Apply different templates to various product lines or collections to cater to diverse customer preferences.
  • Streamlining token creation: Automate the minting process to occur seamlessly when a product is sold, requiring no additional effort from you or the customer.

Template fields

Each field in a template has a specific purpose:

  • Name and description: Helps you manage and identify different templates and their associated products.
  • Blockchain choice: You can select from several blockchain networks, depending on the specific features or ecosystems your customers might prefer. Each blockchain comes with its own set of advantages, tailored to different needs and preferences, ensuring that you can align with the best technology as it evolves.
  • Collection type: Each NFT must belong to an NFT collection, with options to use a default, shared collection for efficiency or a custom collection for enhanced branding and exclusivity.
  • Metadata pptions: Selecting which product attributes to embed as metadata can increase the NFT’s value and relevance.
  • Customer communications: Personalizing your brand name and messages on NFT claims and emails enhances brand recognition and creates a memorable customer experience, strengthening customer loyalty and encouraging repeat business.
  • Token type: Choose between NFT (Non-Fungible Token) and SFT (Semi-Fungible Token). NFTs, the default and recommended option, are unique tokens ideal for enhancing the exclusivity and collectability of individual items. SFTs, a special feature available only for custom collections on Ethereum-based chains like Polygon and Base, are suitable for items with multiple identical copies, such as tickets or special editions.

NFT collections

Each NFT minted must belong to an NFT collection on the blockchain. You can choose between two types:

  • Default collection: Tokens are minted into a pre-existing shared collection. This option is free and recommended if you don’t have specific branding or organizational needs at the NFT collection level.
  • Custom collection: You can create a unique NFT collection using the template’s name, description, and image. This option provides greater exclusivity and branding opportunities but incurs additional charges and may have limits depending on your plan.

Default templates

To simplify your initial setup, a default template is automatically created for each supported blockchain. This default setup includes pre-configured metadata and customer communication options, which you can customize as needed to better align with your brand and product offerings.
